In automated content creation, the quality of your output depends directly on the quality and relevance of the data you use. Data filtering is not just a technical step, it’s a strategic capability. It allows you to select only the information that adds value, remove noise, and ensure that your narratives, workflows, or agents work with clean, precise, and fully aligned datasets.
In this context, Narrativa® Navigator includes a Data Filtering system that lets you transform any dataset, whether manually uploaded, synced from the cloud, or generated through an AI Agent, into a clean, focused, and purpose-driven data source. With flexible, conditional, and combinable filters, you can define which values should be included in your processes and which ones should be excluded.
Narrativa note: When we talk about Data Filtering in Narrativa® Navigator, we refer to an operational mechanism that applies logical conditions to your dataset. It does not modify the original data, nor does it act independently outside the safe environment of the platform. Filtering is a tool designed to help you work with precise, coherent datasets tailored to each narrative or workflow.
1. What can you do with data filtering?
Before getting started, it’s important to understand why this functionality is so powerful:
✔ Surgical precision
Keep only the records that truly matter for generating relevant content.
✔ Noise reduction
Remove irrelevant, duplicate, incomplete, or out-of-scope records.
✔ Full customization
You define the rules: text, numbers, dates, ranges, multiple conditions, and more.
✔ Scalability
A well-designed filter becomes reusable across any narrative, workflow, or project.
✔ Operational efficiency
Reduce processing time and avoid errors caused by unfiltered data.
2. How to apply filters to a Data Source
Below is the step-by-step guide to using this feature.
Step 1: Go to the Data tab
On the platform’s sidebar:
- Click Data.
- Select the Data Source you want to filter.
- Or create a new one by clicking Create new Data.
Step 2: Open the filtering section
Inside the Data Source:
- Go to the Filtering tab.
- This is where you’ll build your conditional rules.
Step 3: Define your filtering rules
Here you decide which data will remain in the final dataset. For each condition, specify:
- The column to apply the filter on
- The comparison type, such as:
- Equals
- Does not equal
- Contains
- Greater than / Less than
- Between ranges (especially useful for dates or quantities)
- The value or criterion that must be met
You can add as many rules as you need. Filters may function as:
- Simple filters (one condition)
- Combined filters (multiple conditions grouped with AND/OR)
Tip: The more precise your rules are, the cleaner and more reliable your final dataset will be.
Step 4: Preview the result
Click Apply filters to generate a preview.
You’ll be able to check:
- Which values meet the criteria
- How many records remain or are discarded
- Whether you need to adjust conditions or operators
- Whether the final format suits your narrative
You can edit the rules at any time. Filtering is fully dynamic.
Step 5: Save and use your filtered dataset
Once you’re satisfied:
- Save your filtering rules
- Set the Unique ID if needed
- Enable the Scheduler if you want the filtering to run automatically

Final result
You will obtain a dataset that is clean, reduced, and focused on the information that truly matters, ready to be used automatically in any component of Narrativa® Navigator. The filtering rules will be applied each time your data updates, ensuring consistency and accuracy over time.
