AI Confidence: Building a new kind of resilience in the Cognitive Age

Confidence. It’s a word that is quite complex and can evoke feelings of pride or vulnerability depending on context and experience. As children, many of us believe ourselves to be inherently confident, fueled by a sense of limitless potential. However, as we age and encounter the unpredictability of adult life with new challenges, unfamiliar environments, and professional setbacks, our confidence can become more fragile and inconsistent.

Contrary to popular belief, confidence is not an innate, fixed trait. It is a dynamic skill that must be developed, refined, and continuously nurtured. And in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, particularly in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), the need to build a new kind of resilience in the Cognitive Age is more critical than ever.

Building confidence as a female entrepreneur in AI

As a female tech entrepreneur I must admit that becoming “confident” within the wild world of artificial intelligence has been quite a wild, and sometimes scary, ride at times. I was not always the most scientific or mathematical brain in the room, and I was the kid who always took every opportunity to earn extra credit in school.

So, when I first encountered the world of artificial intelligence years ago, I was definitely apprehensive. But I was equally fascinated and intrigued by this marvelous way that algorithms could develop and manifest intelligence and reasoning all on their own. It opened up my eyes to a world of possibilities that could provide support and change not only to my own skills and career, but for many more people around the world.

I also realized that if I could become confident in utilizing AI tools in my everyday life, then many more people could also gain the same level of confidence that I did with the same support that I received from my own brilliant data scientists and AI community members.

Narrativa AI Confidence Program

This desire to empower people with a new level of AI confidence was what inspired my team and I at Narrativa to pioneer what we call AI Confidence. It is a structured approach to empowering individuals and teams to thrive alongside emerging technologies.   2. Novelty-Based Confidence: This occurs when an individual tries something new and experiences success. Even partial success, such as achieving 80% of a desired outcome, can foster a strong sense of competence. Consider experimenting with a new AI application (or “agent”). Even if the results aren’t perfect, the act of trying something unfamiliar and making progress is itself confidence-building.
